Our first Club Member of the Week this week is Pam Wood!

Everyone say hi to Pam! I hope you will enjoy getting to know her a little better!

Name: Pam Wood 

Where are you from and where do you live now?: I live in a little town ,Jandowae, on the Darling Downs in Queensland, Australia. I have lived in this area for most of my 75 years

What is your favorite project you’ve ever made and why?: Probably a quilt that I made to be raffled at a kickboxing tournament in Toowoomba. The proceeds were given to my son’s daughter (then 2 1/2 years old), who had just been diagnosed with leukemia

What color seems to always make its way into your quilts?: No particular colour, really. I like most colours, but am not a real fan of browns 

Do you do other types of sewing besides quilting? : I love making small projects such as bags, potholes, runners etc. I used to make all my children’s clothes when they were little (I had 4 sons and a daughter) 

Do you have other creative hobbies?: I do lots of knitting and crochet, mostly for charity. I also do various types of embroidery and applique . I have dabbled in folk art, decoupage, paper tole, punch needle, tapestry etc. 

What’s your oldest UFO? Any tips on how you keep them from piling up?: A tapestry I started about 45 years ago. I will finish it, one day. I have many others/ I am gradually working my way through them, I don’t know if I will live long enough to catch them all up. 

What’s your favorite creative outlet?: Apart from patchwork, knitting and crochet, I love to play the piano. I am a music teacher, still teaching part time. I teach piano, organ, clarinet, saxophone, guitar. 

Tell us about your family! : I have 4 sons and a daughter, 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. I have been married for 56 years. 

What’s your favorite food? : Roast lamb with vegetables 

What’s your favorite TV Show or Movie?: TV show, As Time Goes By. Movie, Phantom of the Opera

Who’s your favorite fabric designer?: None in particular 

Do you have a favorite collection from The Art of Home Club?: Bees and Honey. Love it.
