Your Name: Dawn Ashpole
At what age did you start sewing/quilting? About 10 in a 4-H group
What is your most favorite project you ever made and why? My daughters wedding dress with hand sewn beads.
Who or what inspired you to become a quilter? I’m retired and always wanted to try it. It is addictive.
What color do you have a hard time using in your quilts and why? Can’t think of any
What color seems to always make its way into your quilts? Black
Do you do other types of sewing besides quilting? (clothing, home décor, etc.) Pillowcases & hats for a non-profit I work with that gives new clothing to low income & foster kids.
Do you have other creative hobbies? (cooking, knitting, painting, gardening….) reading, diamond bead art, traveling
If you won a shopping spree to a quilt store, what is the first thing you would splurge on? Gadgets & fabric
Did you name your sewing machine? no
Favorite sewing gadget? stilleto
What treats do you indulge in while working in your sewing room? I just enjoy seeing pieces of material become something
What’s your oldest UFO? A blouse I cut out about 20 years ago
Your best sewing tip: Try it you’ll like it! And Try Try Try Again
What type of quilt or block is on your “bucket list” and why? A String Quilt
Tell us about your family (children, grandchildren, fur babies, etc.) 4 kids, 12 grandkids and 4 great-grands, a dog & a cat.
Where do you live, and what is your favorite thing about where you live? Oregon – In 2-3 hours you can be in any type of country you want, beach, mountains, desert, farm land
Favorite vacation spot? On a cruise ship going anywhere
Favorite food? Seafood
Favorite television show? NCIS – any of them
Are you a rightie or leftie? Rightie
Anything else you’d like to share: I have really enjoyed not only the FB page and how helpful people are, but the monthly kits and sew-alongs get me to try things I’ve never tried.
